Disquisitional response [edit]
Reviews of the score were positive. AllMusic gave the score four stars out of 5, saying "the soundtrack for The Amazing Spider-Man two echoes the sequel's frenetic, slick, and streamlined activity, offering up 14 instrumental pieces and six not-score-related songs that dutifully reverberate the measured and meticulous, corporate tie-in sensibilities of the traditional summer blockbuster while still managing to march to the vanquish of their own very loud drum."[17]
Moving picture Wave gave the score four stars, writing "If you'd said to me while I was beginning listening to The Amazing Spider-Man dorsum in 2012 (and writing almost how much I hoped it might mark a return to a more traditional approach in full general to these films) that ii years later the sequel would come out and be scored past Hans Zimmer with dubstep, I'd probably have punched you in the face (well, if I weren't the world's most mild-mannered private, anyway). I guess others volition feel the aforementioned way. Just open up your mind to information technology: it'due south dazzling stuff."[18] Still, Filmtracks gave it one star out of 5, heavily criticizing Zimmer'due south approach, judging "it is painful to hear a composer strive to innovate and yet miss the marking and then badly on something so bones as the heart of the master character." He compared the score with the predecessors in the Spider-Man franchise, writing that Danny Elfman'southward and James Horner's scores better "enunciate[d] the master grapheme's emotions" with "highly effective themes for the title character and wrapped them in a tasteful blend of symphonic heart and synthetic intrigue", while the soundtrack of The Amazing Spider-Human being two is yet some other score with the typical "'Zimmeresque' sensibilities, including heart-searching basslines, small-third perpetuity, electronic elements in front of symphonic ones, unproblematic thematic statements without counterpoint, limited shifts to the major key, lower choral depth, and long lines of ambient groundwork sounds. In other words, yet another superhero comes to Zimmer rather than Zimmer addressing the actual character needs of the superhero."[19]
KidzWorld gave it 4 stars out of five, opining "The Amazing Spider-Human had a soundtrack jam-packed full of gorgeous symphonic style melodies, and so expectations were loftier for many Marvel fans when it came to the soundtrack for The Amazing Spider-Man two. Composer Hans Zimmer [has] created an incredibly different musical landscape for the movie, and information technology is just as surprising and interesting as the first soundtrack."[20] Soundtrack Geeks gave the soundtrack 7 1/ii stars out of ten, feeling "All is not totally new territory for Zimmer. At that place'southward strong hints of earlier scores like Inception in cues similar 'I Need To Know', but it is Zimmer after all, and rarely do we hear a score from him that's totally void of earlier Zimmerisms. I absolutely love this cue. 'Y'all're That Spider Guy' must be the ending theme or something considering it feels like that kind of cue. It'due south got a piddling bit of everything and a new way to practice the main Spidey theme."[21]
